The Director, Child and Youth Health is responsible for managing the branch and overseeing the strategic delivery of health and wellbeing policies, initiatives and services to support positive health and wellbeing outcomes for children and young people in education settings.Role Purpose
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced leader to join the Wellbeing Health and Engagement Division executive team. The Director, Child and Youth Health is responsible for the strategic delivery of health and wellbeing policies, initiatives and services to support positive health and wellbeing outcomes for children and young people in education settings. To succeed in this role, you will create and sustain a healthy workplace and high performance branch culture and collaborate with colleagues within the department, as well as other government departments, agencies and stakeholders to provide strategic, authoritative and evidence-informed direction and advice. Key responsibilities include:
* Overseeing a range of health-related initiatives, programs and services, including the successful delivery of high-profile government initiatives
* Working with regional and school-based colleagues, as well as across other departmental groups, on delivering improved student health and wellbeing outcomes through effective partnerships and collaboration
* Implementing and evaluating policy and programs and the use of these insights to inform broader policy directions
* Shaping strategies and policies to enhance the health and wellbeing outcomes of children and young people in education settings
* Providing strategic and authoritative evidence-informed policy and operational advice in relation to child and adolescent health to support the Executive Director, Deputy Secretary SEPS, other departmental groups and Ministers
* Representing the department and division on governance groups and intergovernmental forums
* Managing and maintaining a positive and productive relationship with the Department of Health and other government and health stakeholders, to inform the development and delivery of a diverse range of policies and initiatives and provide expert health advice and guidance where needed, including pandemic preparedness and response and incident containment
* Participating actively as a member of WHED's, SEPS's and the department's executive leadership group
* Creating and sustaining a high-performance branch culture that encourages continuous improvement and a healthy work environment
* Overseeing and ensuring effective and efficient management of the branch's budget and related administrative processes.
