The HR Business Partner (HRBP), reporting directly to the Head of People & Culture, plays a crucial role at Sequana in aligning HR strategies with business objectives and partnering with senior leaders and employees to provide day-to-day operational support including providing expert HR guidance in employee relations, performance management, and organisational development.

What you do

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of HR programs and initiatives that drive organisational success.
  • Partner with hiring managers to develop job descriptions, and provide guidance on succession planning, and performance management.
  • Act as a point of contact for employee concerns and grievances, providing guidance and resolution strategies.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture through effective communication and conflict resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian employment laws and regulations.
  • Review and update HR policies, procedures, and employee records to reflect best practices and legal requirements.
  • Identify training and development needs within the business units and coordinate with the Learning and Development Coaches to deliver relevant programs.
  • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion as a strategic advantage, implementing programs that celebrate workforce strengths and foster belonging.
  • Prepare employment contracts for new hires, update HR systems, and manage the full employee lifecycle from onboarding and offboarding.
  • Support performance review cycles and career pathway planning processes.
  • Play an active role in the implementation and optimisation of HR systems and processes
  • Collect, analyse, and present HR metrics to business leaders for decision-making purposes.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on data-driven analysis.
  • Support organisational change initiatives by helping business units navigate through transitions and mergers.

Who you are

Candidates should possess:

  • Bachelor's degree or similar relevant qualification in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a generalist advisory HR position, with a focus on business partnership.
  • Demonstrated experience in and working knowledge of broad HR functions, including employee and industrial relations, award interpretation, and change management.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, build, and maintain trusted and effective working relationships and partnerships with all levels of management within the business, colleagues, and other internal stakeholders including the ability to influence and negotiate to produce efficient and effective outcomes.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
  • Well-developed organisational and time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple and competing priorities.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to align operational strategies with overall business goals.
