This newly created Head of Origination role reports directly into the Head of Australia and plays a key role in the Australian-launch of a top-tier US-headquartered, mid-market private equity fund. The fund has an exceptional track record of returns and success in many different geographies and has a unique investment strategy anchored around an extraordinarily active M&A mandate in underappreciated sectors.
The Head of Origination will be responsible for the sourcing and development of new investment opportunities for the team in Australia. As a market facing, lead originator, you will be tasked with mapping and developing key relationships across the Australian business community to ensure the team has a quality pipeline of investment opportunities. Specifically, this role will look to:
Conduct deep industry and sector research to support origination efforts and ensure understanding of the relevant market dynamicsBuild and maintain strong networks across the advisory and business community, sourcing high quality, growth focused businesses, cultivating deep relationships with management teams and business founders Presenting investment opportunities to the team, taking responsibility for screening businesses and conducting initial due diligence Utilise your transactional background and expertise to provide scoping and assessment of investment opportunities for the Head of M&A
For this role, we seek a highly energetic, well-networked and commercially astute individual who will likely have ~8 – 12 years of experience gained in either an Origination role for a Private Capital Fund, from corporate advisory / M&A where you have been responsible for sourcing new deal opportunities, or you are a private capital investor who is looking to focus purely on Origination efforts for a Fund.
