The RoleAs an Apprentice at ASD, you will work on a range of tasks that support Australia’s national security. Whether you are a school leaver or looking for an entry-level career change, if you have a passion for Australia’s national security, we encourage you to apply.You will work in a team supported by ASD mentors, coaches, supervisors and peers whilst completing a relevant Certificate IV qualification over an 18-month period. ASD will pay for your studies, you will be granted paid study time to complete your Certificate IV and you will be working in a dynamic work environment putting your new skills to use as you learn.Specific Certificate IVs offered vary depending on business need but in the past have included Cert IV in IT (Networking), Cert IV in IT (Programming and Web applications) and Cert IV in Project Management.Positions within the ASD 2026 Apprentice Program will be located in all of our offices and you are able to nominate your preferred working location as Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, or Perth as part of the application process. Each location has a different number of roles available based on business need and available positions. The majority of positions are located in Canberra.
