About Us

We're dedicated to improving electrical safety and reducing risk of death and injury from electrical shock, fire and explosion. Our culture is rooted in collaboration, growth, and innovation. We believe in empowering our team to achieve their best and are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.

This Role

You'll be exposed to the lifecycle of electrical equipment, from the conception of the design of the electrical safety equipment up until the end of the cycle - including exposure to national and international electrical safety standard, certification process and regulation through the national electrical safety system.

You will also have the opportunity to:

- contribute to the ongoing development of electrical safety in Queensland through legislation, standards and codes with emphasis on industry knowledge and technological developments in electrical and electronics equipment, including emerging technology and renewables
- undertake research on electrical equipment safety, legislative and operational issues
- participate in auditing, investigating and reporting on unapproved or defective electrical equipment, or fires resulting from electrical causes
- help raise electrical safety awareness in the electrical industry and wider community by presentations and education initiatives.

What We're Looking For

First and foremost, we are looking for someone to bring their passion for electrical safety! While there are no mandatory conditions or qualifications, ideally you will be studying towards an undergraduate (i.e. advanced diploma) or graduate degree in electrical engineering or a related field, such as electrical and renewable power.

You will need a passion to learn, or you may already know about, electrical safety principles of electrical equipment, evaluating test reports and equipment for compliance with Australian Standards.

You'll also need to:

- undertake an objective and systematic approach in providing technical advice regarding electrical equipment safety
- achieve results by contributing to technical research and related activities and seeking feedback and guidance from your supervisor
- confidently present messages in a clear, concise and articulate manner, listen carefully to others and check to ensure their views have been understood, and negotiate to identify stakeholder expectations and concerns
- build and sustain positive relationships with team members, be responsive to changes in client needs and expectations, work collaboratively with others and treat people with respect and courtesy
- take personal responsibility for meeting objectives and progressing work, showing initiative and doing what's required, and act professionally at all times by working in line with organisational processes and legal and public policy constraints.
