THE ROLE

Kyabra is looking for a Case Worker who can demonstrate a knowledge of, and experience working in, the community services sector, particularly in the housing and homelessness space. This role is responsible for maintaining a case load of individuals and/or families who are experiencing a range of complex issues while working with them towards the best possible outcomes. The ideal Case Worker will have an interest in, and ability to, work with individuals/families through a client-centred, strength-based approach in line with the principles of social justice.

Duties may include support and advocacy through systems and situations which significantly impact on individual and family lives. The position involves both centre-based and outreach functions involving coordinated work with a range of agency, community, and staff resources.

This is a full-time fixed term position until 30 June 2026.

Hours of Work

The successful candidate is expected to work 76 hrs per fortnight.

REQUIREMENTS

· Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services or similar.

· Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience working in the community services sector and case management, particularly around housing and homelessness.

· Valid Blue Card (Working with Children Check) or eligibility to attain one.

· Eligibility to attain satisfactory history checks as required.

· Current Driver’s License.

· Demonstrated understanding of issues/barriers faced by those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, including ways to resolve or improve these issues and empower participants.

· Cultural competency, including a demonstrated understanding of, and experience in, working with people from CALD backgrounds.

· Understanding of, and commitment to upholding, the principles of social justice, the Human Services Quality Framework, and Kyabra’s Code of Conduct, including our organisational policies and procedures.

· Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, including an ability to work autonomously or as a team and adapt to various circumstances as necessary to support each community member.

· A willingness to undergo additional mandatory training as required (with the support of Kyabra).

DESIRABLE

· Prior understanding of the strengths-based approach.

· Knowledge of broader referral networks and/or the ability to quickly learn/acquire them.
