About the Role
As a Senior Regional Clinical Coder, you will play a vital role in translating clinical information from inpatient and same-day health records into accurate, detailed codes using ICD-10-AM, ACHI, and the Australian Coding Standards. Your work will contribute to statistical analysis, hospital planning, research, and quality audits – helping to ensure the provision of high-quality care and resources.
Your duties will include:
- Performing clinical coding across acute, sub-acute, mental health, and surgical services.
- Ensuring correct sequencing of diagnoses and procedures for accurate, complete coding.
- Engaging with clinicians and health service administration staff to ensure accurate and timely data submissions.
- Supporting internal audits and education within the Coding unit.
- Working with hospital administration teams to meet reporting deadlines and compliance standards.
Essential Criteria
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Completion of one of the following clinical coding courses:
- HLT50321 Diploma in Clinical Coding
- Advanced Coding Course
- Certificate IV in Clinical Classification
- Intermediate Coding Course
- Minimum of 3 years' experience using ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS within a hospital setting
