About the Opportunity
As the Biological Control Research and Development Manager, you will provide operational support in developing a range of biological agents. Reporting to the Managing Director (WA) and leading a small team, you will:
- Lead the development of new cultures
- Develop marketing strategies for new and existing productions
- Oversee quality control procedures
- Troubleshoot any cultures that may be performing poorly
- Diagnose new issues, research, experiment and develop solutions and protocols
- Use your understanding the breeding cycles of biological control agents and their prey to develop and improve cultures
- Use your understanding of chemical registrations for key crops, effectiveness against pests, disease and toxicities to beneficial
- Liaise with growers and provide advice
- Keep appropriate records of R & D cultures and experiments
- Keep informed of local and overseas research and literature, liaise with researchers and advise in new areas of opportunity
About You
You will have a genuine interest in working for an organisation that positively contributes to environmentally sound horticultural practice, as well as the entomological operations of the company.
You are highly accountable for your own outcomes and those of your team. You demonstrate leadership capability including communicating effectively at all levels of the organisation, with an energetic and enthusiastic approach. You will be a role model regarding professionalism, punctuality, presentation, housekeeping, and compliance with company processes.
In addition:
- Your tertiary qualifications, certification, and experience qualify you for a role in entomological research
- You bring significant experience assisting with developing improvement strategies for improving yield and quality
- You can demonstrate experience and capability in leading and motivating teams
- Your general computer literacy is at an intermediate level or above
- You have a current driver's license and have or be willing to apply for a National Police Records check
