About the role We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Clinical Manager to oversee our inpatient palliative care ward. This part-time position (0.8 FTE) requires someone who enjoys collaboration and is committed to excellence in patient care. Working closely with our exceptional Palliative Care Nurse Practitioners and Advanced Practice Nurses, you will be at the forefront of managing clinical operations and guiding our talented staff within our specialised palliative care unit.

As a level 3 role, you will directly report to the Deputy Director of Clinical Services – Inpatient Areas (DDCS-IA). Your leadership will be instrumental in shaping our approach to palliative care and ensuring that our patients receive the best possible support and comfort.

Your main duties will include:
  • Supervising the daily operations of the ward, ensuring seamless patient care, effective staffing, and optimal resource allocation.
  • Implementing and maintaining clinical standards and protocols that drive exceptional patient outcomes and enhance the overall quality of care.
  • Fostering a collaborative environment among multidisciplinary teams, inspiring a shared commitment to delivering high-quality care that honours the dignity of every patient.
About you To thrive in this role, you will possess:
  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse, ensuring compliance with professional standards and a solid foundation in nursing practice.
  • A management or relevant postgraduate specialty qualification that complements your clinical expertise and leadership capabilities.
  • Proven experience in palliative care nursing or a related field, coupled with a deep understanding of best practices and the complexities of end-of-life care.
  • Strong leadership skills that enable you to inspire, mentor, and motivate a diverse team towards achieving departmental goals and fostering an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that are essential for building effective relationships with patients, families, and colleagues, ultimately promoting a compassionate and supportive atmosphere within our unit.
