Why this role mattersThe Doorways program provides person centred care to community members experiencing financial or other forms of hardship through the provision of financial and material emergency relief.
Case management is provided at some of the Doorways sites to engage people through early intervention as well as address long term disadvantage to break the cycle of poverty and alleviate financial hardship.
Our practitioners are strength based and trauma informed in their practice to build individual capacity, resilience and well being.
About the roleWe are seeking a values-driven and proactive Doorways Emergency Relief Assessor to assess community member needs and determining appropriate financial assistance (emergency relief) and/or referrals.
This is a Permanent full-time position based in Wagga Wagga, NSW. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Level 3 Award.
You will successfully-
Conduct interviews and assessments for emergency relief (ER) with community members.

Determine the assistance to be provided in line with Doorways standards of practice.

Escalate complex or unresolved matters.

Maintain accurate, up-to-date client records and data.

Identify risks to community members, staff and TSA and bring them to the attention of the relevant Line Manager as soon as possible.

Identify service gaps are and make recommendations for service delivery improvements.

Support actively the local mission delivery model by working collaboratively with Corps, where required.

Adhere to The Salvation Army's Policies and Procedures, Doorways Model of Care and Practice Guides.

A Working With Children Check.

Diploma level (preferred) or Certificate IV (minimum) qualification in a related field (Community Services etc).

Experience working in the community services sector.

Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds would be beneficial.

Experience working in a fast-paced environment (contact centre) would be highly regarded (for Phone Line ER Assessors).
