We are currently seeking a highly skilled Principal Electrical Engineer to join the team, focusing on Energy Infrastructure and Utility Services. This role plays a pivotal part in managing engineering and technical delivery requirements across pre-contracts and project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical authority for high-voltage (HV) design delivery, ensuring best practices and innovation in engineering solutions.
- Act as the technical lead for Extra High Voltage (EHV) and HV primary plant design, driving engineering excellence and efficiency.
- Develop, implement, and maintain engineering systems, tools, and decision-making frameworks to support pre-contracts and project execution.
- Engage with clients to assess project requirements, develop fit-for-purpose, cost-effective solutions, and provide expert technical consultation.
- Lead and support internal and external engineering teams to ensure alignment with company goals, industry standards, and regulatory compliance.
- Provide technical leadership in multi-disciplinary aspects of electrical infrastructure delivery, ensuring robust project execution.
- Oversee the creation, evaluation, and application of various electrical engineering studies and reports, including power flow, fault analysis, protection studies, and earthing designs.
- Facilitate seamless transfer of engineering deliverables to project execution teams, ensuring customer expectations are met and exceeded.
- Monitor project progress, proactively addressing design challenges and optimizing solutions.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and innovative solutions to enhance market competitiveness.
- Develop and maintain standardized design templates and engineering best practices.
- Promote a culture of safety, environmental responsibility, and workplace inclusivity.
- Ensure full compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and industry standards.
Skills and Expertise
- Deep technical knowledge of HV connection solutions, power systems, and electrical networks, including the ability to develop concurrent solutions in complex decision environments.
- Strong understanding of cost estimation and economic feasibility in HV solutions to deliver efficient and cost-effective project designs.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring tailored product solutions and exceptional service delivery.
- Extensive commercial acumen with the ability to execute projects to time, cost, and quality objectives while mitigating risks and protecting reputation.
- Experience driving organizational change to enhance commercial and competitive standing.
- Strong leadership in multi-disciplinary team environments, with a focus on collaboration and innovation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with well-developed interpersonal and negotiation abilities.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, meeting the eligibility criteria for membership with Engineers Australia in the Professional Engineering category.
- Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) certification is required, or eligibility to obtain RPEQ status (CP Eng holders preferred).
- Extensive expertise in Electrical MV, HV, and Energy Infrastructure markets , with deep knowledge of industry trends and evolving technologies.
- Strong experience in the design, construction, constructability, and cost estimation of multi-disciplinary HV infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to workplace health & safety, environmental regulations, and compliance requirements .
- Hands-on experience in designing, constructing, and commissioning HV electrical infrastructure projects, including civil, mechanical, control, protection, telecommunications, HV cable systems, and overhead line (OHL) systems .
