As a Youth and Family Support Worker, you'll be at the heart of creating a brighter future for young people and families.

Here's what your dynamic role entails:

  • Flexible Support : Embrace the chance to make a difference at any time, whether it's weekdays or weekends, even overnight supports for respite where necessary, to meet the unique needs of our clients and schedules.
  • Immersive Support: Step into the world of our young people/families/carers, where you'll provide essential support and guidance to empower them within their homes, communities and alongside other organizations.
  • Diverse Client Interaction and Collaboration: Engage with a diverse range of clients, including Parents, Young People, Kinship and Foster Carers, and Government and Non-Government Organisations. Support their success by attending and collaborating in enriching Stakeholder meetings, Client meetings, Appointments, and Team Meetings, guided by your supportive Supervisor.
  • Initiative and Impact: Showcase your initiative and determination as you lead the way in achieving case goals and milestones. Establish meaningful connections as you link clients with appropriate networks, services, enhancing their overall well-being and positively impacting the lives of young people, families and carers.
  • Effective Reporting: Skillfully and professionally handle reporting duties with a strengths-based approach, following our well-defined policies and legislative requirements. You'll provide detailed written reports, utilizing templates, and offer verbal reporting as needed.
  • Mentorship and Teaching: Implement therapeutic principles and strategies, serving as a role model, mentor, and educator for young people, families and carers to equip them with essential skills empowering them to successfully achieve their goals.
  • Lifelong Learning and Versatile Contribution: Embrace continuous growth through ongoing training opportunities, staying up to date with the latest practices, and be ready to take on various responsibilities aligned with our organization's dynamic needs. Qualifications and Experience:

  • Whether you hold a Cert IV or higher in the Human Services industry (or similar) or are pursuing, your commitment to growth is valued.
  • Possess at least 12 months of experience in a similar role.
  • Completion of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training equips you for challenges with confidence and care or demonstrated enthusiasm to complete this.
  • Deep understanding of the Child Protection Act, Charter of Rights, Standards of Care, and Hope and Healing Framework is your foundation.
  • Your compassionate empathy and advocacy work in tandem, guiding challenging journeys and fostering a safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills empower you to build meaningful relationships quickly and collaborate effectively.
  • Commitment to high ethical standards, professional boundary awareness, critical thinking and adaptability showcases your dedication.
  • Enthusiasm and proficiency to work autonomously and as a team with eagerness and self-motivation to learn and grow is highly sought after.
  • Proficiency in computer literacy streamlines support to you and delivery of information.
  • A P2 or Open Drivers License with your own car with full comprehensive insurance
  • Maintaining a Working with Children Blue Card.
