Description:

Role purpose

HIPPY (Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngster) is a free, two-year, home-based early childhood learning program that empowers parents and carers to be their child's first teacher. Families that live in a HIPPY Catchment Area start HIPPY two years before school and supports all learning for the Age 3 and Age 4 children. The HIPPY Australia Curriculum framework informs and supports all learnings in the Age 3 and Age 4 Activity Packs.

The HIPPY activities and storybooks have been designed so that HIPPY families of all languages and cultural backgrounds can successfully complete the programme with their child. HIPPY is designed to support families in learning skills to get their children ready for school. Families are supported by a HIPPY Tutor who goes through the activities with the parents and carers prior to the parents and carers engaging these with the children. HIIPY children work through weekly or fortnightly packs of ply-based, educational activities with their parents and families.
