Schedule: Various shifts in Specimen Reception on a rotating 7-day roster

About the role We are seeking an individual who is highly motivated to become part of a passionate and engaged team. Your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Performing all tasks relevant to a particular shift, including specimen reception, registration and data entry
- Managing all aspects of slide and block storage and filing, as well as slide printing
- Equipment cleaning, including biohazard cabinet, centrifuge & work benches
- Upholding quality standards within the laboratory by adhering to departmental quality system procedures
- Complying with the Occupational Health & Safety policy and programs to ensure personal health and safety, and the health and safety of others in the workplace; and
- Satisfying the requirements of customers, both internal and external, through the provision of reliable and efficient service levels
About you To be considered for this position, you will need to have a great blend of skills, including:
- Specimen processing and data entry experience
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- The ability to cope and thrive in a busy environment
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and work as a team
- Understanding the importance of following procedures accurately
- A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures
- Previous laboratory experience and exposure to medical terminology would be desirable, but not essential
- Experience with specimen transport, histology processing, microtomy, embedding, and staining, will be an advantage
