Overview
We are seeking a Business Development Professional to join our International Retail Department (IRD).
The (IRD) is the custodian of Aramco’s retail business outside Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and is responsible for strategy formulation, business development, M&A and management of retail fuel subsidiaries and Joint ventures (JV’s). Downstream growth and financial resilience is a key focus area for Aramco and IRD is contributing to this initiative by integrating demand centers with refineries and securing marketing margins by developing retail businesses in high-value regional and global markets.
The primary role is to enable the execution of the Retail strategy through development of an opportunities pipeline and/or leading a complex mergers & acquisition (M&A) transaction by working through wide range of external and internal stakeholders to ensure timely execution of definitive agreements.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Screens both independent and integrated retail fuel business proposals using a variety of strategic and technical criteria, with the aim to prioritize the opportunities in an opportunity pipeline that will contribute the most towards the execution of the retail strategy.
- Develops complex business cases to further prospective business ventures and summarize information from feasibility studies that serve as inputs to business plans.
- Provides functional expertise to determine the capabilities and risks associated with proposed new ventures, e.g. assessment of operating models, non-fuel offerings, branding, sales, marketing and logistics.
- Leads and/or supports negotiation of agreements with external parties as part of the ongoing M&A activities.
- Leads commercial activities of the M&A process such as the commercial due diligence and negotiating key commercial terms with external parties.
- Develops updates to the retail and downstream strategy when required and is accountable to present them to the Company’s Executive Management for approval.
- Delivers clear and effective presentations to Senior Management related to ongoing projects and initiatives, anticipating possible questions and objections. Has the ability to adapt in real time to the reactions of senior management and respond appropriately.
- Multiple ongoing responsibilities that have to be managed simultaneously while under pressure to deliver towards deadlines with moving targets.
- Understands financial metrics in order to analyze and articulate the messages to the correct audience level.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Marketing, Economics or Engineering discipline from a recognized and approved program. An advanced degree like an Master of Business Administration (MBA) would be an advantage.
- At least 15 years of experience in fuel retail or related businesses gained at different organizational levels within major international oil companies. You must have exposure to corporate international oversight roles and business P&L accountability.
- Additionally, have a proven track record of business development expertise and value creation via direct involvement in MBA activities.
- Must have a highly commercial mindset with the ability to understand P&L, Balance sheets and key drivers for value generation.
- Ability to work independently, engage with Senior stakeholders, excellent communication skills and flexibility to work on diverse subjects are key skills to be successful in this role.
