Permanent Full Time Position at the City of Ballarat Band 5 salary $74,484 - $85,025 + super Fortnightly RDOThe Role:
The Traffic and Transport team provide city-wide, issue specific transport planning/engineering advice and expertise. Currently, the team incorporates just three engineering officers, inclusive of a coordinator. This team run the full program of municipal wide traffic and transport related projects which continues to increase as a result of municipal wide population growth.
Tasks completed by the team are varied and include providing referral responses to a range of internal departments, responding to a high volume of customer service requests (both internally and externally), implementation of transport projects, including black spot funded projects and bus shelters, in addition to other tasks including issuing of National Heavy Vehicle Permits.
The team provides a critical service for City of Ballarat and the community when it comes to traffic related issues/projects. Ultimately, to deliver on the high volume of work and to improve the overall customer service standards, the City of Ballarat requires resource investment in a skilled engineering professional who can assist and support the team to complete an increasingly heavy workload. The position would also be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and other state government agencies and representing the City of Ballarat at traffic related committees and working groups across the region.
About You:
- A degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, which is recognised by the Institute of Engineers of Australia, is desirable but not essential.
- Experience in civil or traffic management design is desirable.
- Experience with computer aided design and drafting systems.
- Hold and maintain a current Victorian driver's licence
Key Selection Criteria:
- Have completed or are close to completing a tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or alternatively be able to demonstrate experience and sound knowledge in the transport and traffic related engineering field.
- Demonstrated experience in program development, project estimating and delivery, preparation of funding applications and budgeting procedures for traffic and transport related projects.
- Experience in civil design (particularly traffic management).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical, problem solving and time management skills.
- Ability to work as a member of a team.
