With a strong pipeline of lucrative projects and exponential growth on the horizon, they are seeking a highly experienced Mechanical Design Manager to lead the mechanical design aspect of their projects and drive innovation within their team.
The Role:
As the Mechanical Design Manager , you will play a pivotal role in managing the internal design team, providing design direction, and ensuring the successful delivery of projects. You will work closely with management to drive project outcomes, mentor designers, and uphold the highest standards of design excellence. This role requires the incumbent to be available in-person on-site in Burnie.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the mechanical design team, providing initial design direction and input.
  • Liaise directly with management to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Mentor and guide designers in adhering to Australian design delivery procedures and CAD management principles (Autodesk Vault).
  • Oversee the management and administration of Autodesk Vault, reporting directly to the Engineering Manager.
  • Deliver high-quality CAD designs, plant layouts, and detailed designs across multiple projects.
  • Conduct design checks and ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
  • Act as a project design leader, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Quickly generate design content to the appropriate level of detail required for specific projects.

Key Requirements:
  • 10-15 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, with demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Proficiency in the Autodesk suite of applications, including Inventor, Plant 3D, Advance Steel, and Vault .
  • Strong ability to work across multiple software platforms and set an example for the design team.
  • Excellent project management skills, with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • A high achiever with a strong output of CAD designs, plant layouts, and detailed designs.
  • Experience in mentoring and guiding designers to follow best practices in design and CAD management.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with management and team members.
  • Availability to work in-person on-site in Burnie.
