About the Business Unit:
The Barwon Southwest Prison Precinct incorporates four custodial facilities located 6km north-west of Lara, 20km from the centre of Geelong and about 70km from Melbourne. The four custodial facilities consist of two maximum security prisons being HM Prison Barwon and Western Plains Correctional Centre and medium security prison Marngoneet Correctional Centre and Karreenga Annexe. The BSW Prison Services Team provides both operational and administrative services to HMP Barwon, Marngoneet Correctional Centre and the Karreenga Annexe.
About the Role:
The Justice Officer – Finance is an entry level position to a career in Prison Services within the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS).
Some of your duties will include:
* Under supervision, providing high-quality financial and procurement services, in accordance with the Financial Management Act 1994, other government regulations and guidelines and local operating procedures
* Contributing to the efficiency of the finance function through actively contributing to business improvement initiatives
* Performing accounts functions overseeing the administration of prisoner private monies in addition to accounts payables, receivables, reconciliation, data entry, and reporting.

Well-developed computer skills.
* Proficient in the use of software and standard office equipment.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulations.
* Experience and/or understanding of working within a correctional environment or ability to learn.
