The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity available an Assistant Technical Advisor to join the NSW EPA. The successful applicant will provide technical support services on pollution impacts and management for the EPA’s regulatory and operational functions to protect the community and environment. Contribute to projects that develops, reforms and implements operational policy, systems and processes that support, guide and build upon the EPA’s regulatory frameworks and assist in achieving EPA priority outcomes and corporate goals.
About You
- Participate in chemical, pesticide and dangerous goods technical advisory projects and work
- Administer Tanker Design Approvals (TDA) application process, including coordination of TDA review, data entry and payment processing.
- Assist with responses to Dangerous Goods transport regulation, pesticides and industrial chemicals enquiries.
- Assist with industry stakeholder engagement through the development of education material for regulatory requirements for transportation and storage of dangerous goods and industrial chemicals
- Participate in compliance campaigns.
- Provide advice and support for licencing and operations, and planning matters involving dangerous goods and industrial chemicals.
- Assist in the preparation of inter-governmental responses and engagements with stakeholders including SafeWork NSW, National Heavy Vehicle Regulator, Transport for NSW, National Transport Commission and other interstate Competent Authorities for Dangerous Goods transport.
About the Team
The Regulatory Practice and Services division:
- Provides expertise through practical and simple technical guidance to help industry and the community minimise or prevent harm, guiding behaviour change, campaign design and implementation, incident management, and technical advice.
- Improves regulatory practices and processes to focus our efforts, addressing the greatest risks to human health and the environment.
- Coordinates engagement with scientific, research and community partners to deliver timely and robust evidence to underpin our policy, program and regulatory approaches.
- Develops citizen science and local environmental monitoring initiative to engage communities and council on local environmental issues.
