The award winning Howlong Golf Resort boasts one of the largest membership base of any golf Club in Australia and has a reputation of being one of the best presented courses on the Murray River.
The Club has a picturesque 18-hole golf course, Bowling Greens, Resort Complex with 25 rooms and 4 luxury Apartments, large club house with the Restaurants, Cafe, function rooms and gaming machines.
An exciting opportunity has become available for a suitably qualified Assistant Course Superintendent to support our Course Superintendent and skilled and dedicated greens team to nurture, develop and maintain our renowned course and surrounds to a very high standard.
The ideal applicant will possess;

- a strong work ethic
- Ability to operate repair and maintain a Toro automated electric irrigation system
- Skills in herbicide and fertiliser application including appropriate chemical use accreditation
- Skilled in operating a wide variety of machinery
- Chemcert or equivalent
- Certificate 3 in Horticulture (essential)
- Diploma in Turf Management (whilst not essential would be an advantage)
- Chainsaw certificate (desirable)
- Hold a current Australian Driver’s license
- First aid certificate (desirable)
Key Responsibilities & Duties
• Nurturing, maintaining and developing the golf course, bowling greens, croquet lawn, gardens and surrounds in conjunction with the directives of the Superintendent
• Assist the Superintendent with scheduling and supervising the daily operations of the greens team including structuring and organisation of rosters
• In conjunction with the Superintendent hiring, supervising, training and developing greens team to ensure a high level of efficiency, morale and discipline
• Supervising contractors/ volunteers on the course and bowling green areas
• Assist in establishing and promoting safety processes and ensure that all OH&S directives are complied with and safety compliance training completed by all greens team
• Operate a range of specialised tools, plant and equipment
• Ensure that Course and Bowling Green equipment is properly used and maintained in safe working order
• Maintain tools, plant and equipment in serviceable and safe condition
• Apply pesticides, fertilisers and other chemicals according to safe operating procedures
• Operate, repair and maintain resort automated electric irrigation system
• Assist the Superintendent and Course mechanic with development, documentation and implementation of maintenance programs in accordance with all legislative requirements.
• Keep work areas and amenities clean at all times
• Ensuring the security of course and bowls property
• Maintaining facilities responsibly and to standard during the Superintendents absence
• Undertake other duties as directed
A competitive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful applicant. Formal qualifications at a minimum of Level 3 in Turf Management (Horticulture) is essential.
