About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Mining Engineer to join our team at the Curragh North section of the Curragh Mine in Blackwater. In this pivotal role, you will lead the development and implementation of fleet plans that drive optimal business outcomes. You will collaborate closely with key stakeholders, including Operations, Drill & Blast, Contractors, Geology, and Maintenance, to ensure smooth and efficient project execution. This role offers the flexibility of an 8/6 roster, providing a great work-life balance.
The key to success in this role includes:
- Develop precise, practical and innovative design solutions that not only meet budget and timeline constraints but also optimise overall project efficiency.
- Take charge of managing infrastructure to support the mine plan, ensuring that budget allocations are carefully considered, and resources are utilised effectively.
- Assess and justify mine design options that align with the project schedule and short-term planning goals, always prioritising both feasibility and efficiency.
- Foster a culture of collaboration between technical and operational teams, ensuring smooth communication and cooperation at every level of the organisation.
- Follow fleet design standards while undertaking detailed excavator and shovel design work, ensuring all technical specifications are met.
- Create comprehensive weekly plans that actively engage stakeholders, providing them with clear, accurate, and actionable mine plans.
- Perform regular reconciliations during strip progression and conduct in-depth pit reconciliations as necessary, ensuring that all operations are running smoothly and on track.
What You’ll Bring
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or similar
- Demonstrated experience in open cut coal mining
- Experience in using mining software/design tools
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated commitment to safety
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Strong attention to detail and can work well in a team environment
