Piper Alderman
Adelaide Full-day Full-time

Description:

A premier commercial law firm, Piper Alderman has offices in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. We work with clients across Australia and internationally to achieve optimum legal and commercial solutions.

Our legal expertise has been built on nearly two centuries of industry experience. Piper Alderman has been a leading advisor to commercial Australian interests for more than 175 years and we continue to advance in knowledge, skills and commitment.

Deciding between front-end banking and regulatory compliance and back-end litigation and disputes is tough! Well, look no further this role offers a unique career opportunity to do both! Supervised by leading lawyers Shannon Adams and Joshua Annese, this opportunity also provides immediate client contact and matter management. On a day-to-day basis, you will be:

  • Liaising with our financial services clients, including banks and credit unions, in relation to customer disputes and loan and mortgage enforcement nationally
  • Advising clients in relation to various types of customer defaults and exercising their rights in relation to security
  • Initiating and prosecuting enforcement proceedings nationally
  • Advising and representing clients in relation to third party Court proceedings affecting security
  • Advising clients in relation to the resolution of various types of customer complaints and matters before the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA)
  • Negotiating with clients’ customers and their representatives and liaising with relevant authorities
  • Providing advice on loan and mortgage enforcement regulatory compliance
  • Contributing to the development of client service solutions

It is anticipated that over time you will become involved in providing a broader range of regulatory financial services advice to our clients and have the opportunity to build a broad regulatory advisory practice as other members of our team have done.

You’ll love coming to work! Piper Alderman promotes a culture of excellence, collaborative teamwork, knowledge sharing and mutual respect. We provide our clients with high quality legal work, whilst remaining ‘boutique’ in terms of service, flexibility and innovation. We recognise and support individuals and invest in their continued personal and professional development.

To be successful you will ideally:

  • Have 2+ years post qualification experience, with desirable experience in commercial, financial services or litigation practice
  • Be able to demonstrate technical excellence and strong analytical skills
  • Be able to identify and evaluate commercial and legal risk
  • Have excellent written, drafting and verbal communication skills
  • Have very high attention to detail and be self-motivated
  • Have excellent time management skills
