Reporting to the Senior Leader Risk and Compliance within the Operations division, you will play a crucial role in supporting advisory and controls monitoring services. Working closely with Line 1 Risk Advisory Managers and Compliance Advisory Managers, you will help implement and embed operational risk and compliance frameworks, standards, and processes.
Your efforts will ensure that the division actively manages all operational and compliance risks within the Board-approved Risk Appetite.
As a visible advocate for enhancing risk maturity and culture, you will be responsible for engaging with a broad audience and communicating effectively to foster a practical understanding of risk.
You will be involved in the day-to-day management of risks within the Operations division and help with activities such as supporting the facilitation of workshops aimed at building risk awareness across the business.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist Risk Advisory Managers and Compliance Advisory Managers in executing all elements of the Operational Risk and Compliance Management frameworks across Operations including obligation registers, incident and issue management, risk and control self-assessments, controls testing, root cause analysis and audit finding initiatives to resolution within prescribed timelines.
- Ensure reportable incidents are lodged and actioned in the Bank’s Risk Management System within required and agreed timeframes and assist with the subsequent investigations.
- Support Risk Advisory Managers and Compliance Advisory in their consultation with second and third lines of defence (Risk, Compliance, and Internal Audit).
- Demonstrates compliance with policies and procedures to effectively operate within risk appetite. Maintains knowledge of policies and procedures relevant to their role by keeping up to date with communications and assigned learning. Identifies and reports work health and safety risks.
About you
As the ideal candidate you will bring strong experience within the financial services sector, ideally in an operations setting, paired with foundational knowledge of operational risk and compliance management frameworks and tools.
With excellent consultation skills, you will engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, using your self-starter mentality to exercise sound judgement, influence decisions, and set priorities to meet deadlines. A proven problem solver, you will contribute to the development of operational policies, procedures, and guidelines.
