The Opportunity
We are looking for a Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) Analyst to join us in an ongoing position based in Melbourne. The Cyber Threat Intelligence Analyst plays a vital role in enhancing the security posture of the Agency by leading the Cyber Threat Intelligence program. This position involves analysing and managing information related to threats against critical systems and infrastructure, operationalising intelligence to improve security operations, and actively participating in threat hunting and incident response efforts. The analyst will also be responsible for producing clear and relevant reports on cyber threats, collaborating with the Security Operations team, and conducting independent research to identify and triage Indicators of Compromise (IoCs).
Key to the success of this role is the passion to continually learn, keep abreast of emerging threats and controls; have a good understanding of the Agency’s business and investment objectives; protect the data and systems that support it; always focusing on achieving successful outcomes and providing value to the Agency, as a valued team member.
Key Responsibilities
The Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) Analyst is responsible for leading the Cyber Threat Intelligence program, which involves analysing and managing information related to threats against the Agency's critical systems and infrastructure. This includes operationalising intelligence to enhance security operations, integrating threat intelligence into existing processes, and ensuring that the Agency's security measures are proactive and effective. The analyst also plays a key role in threat hunting and incident response, actively participating in efforts to identify and mitigate cyber threats.
In addition to operational responsibilities, the CTI Analyst is tasked with producing clear and relevant reports on cyber threats, which are essential for informing both operational teams and leadership. This involves gathering, tracking, and disseminating threat intelligence, as well as conducting independent research to identify Indicators of Compromise (IoCs). The analyst must also monitor trends in the threat landscape to assist in determining appropriate mitigation measures and controls, ensuring that the Agency remains vigilant against emerging threats.
Collaboration is a critical aspect of the CTI Analyst's role, as they work closely with the Security Operations team and other technology functions to enhance overall security measures. This includes mentoring and training Agency teams on CTI platforms and tools, administering the Threat Intelligence Platform, and participating in security uplift projects. By fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration, the CTI Analyst contributes significantly to the Agency's resilience against cyber threats.
About You
Candidates for the position of Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) Analyst should have a solid foundation in security analysis and threat intelligence, supported by relevant certifications such as Security+ or CCSP. Familiarity with frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework is essential, along with a basic understanding of regulatory standards. Candidates should possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly under pressure, and demonstrate technical proficiency in cybersecurity principles and technologies.
In addition to technical skills, key attributes for a successful CTI Analyst include excellent communication skills, enabling effective interaction with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. A genuine passion for security and continuous improvement is crucial, as is the ability to collaborate with various teams and manage complex, dynamic environments. Self-starters who take pride in their work and are committed to delivering high-quality outcomes will thrive in this role as will those who can prioritise tasks and adapt quickly to new challenges.
For the duration of your employment with the Future Fund you will be required to obtain and maintain an Australian Government security clearance at the Baseline level and meet required background, identification and character checks.
