About The Role:

As a Literacy and Numeracy Specialist Teacher , you will play a pivotal role in helping students gain essential digital literacy and numeracy skills, setting them up for success in their vocational studies and future careers. Working closely with vocational teaching teams, you will design and deliver tailored learning experiences that align with students' industry pathways.


This is a hands-on role where you will engage students in meaningful, practical learning—building their confidence in applying literacy and numeracy in real-world scenarios.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging, customised learning experiences that support students' literacy and numeracy development
  • Work collaboratively with vocational teaching staff to embed literacy and numeracy into industry-specific learning programs
  • Identify and support students with diverse learning needs, ensuring no one is left behind
  • Use innovative teaching methods, including digital tools and interactive learning strategies
  • Monitor student progress and provide tailored feedback to help them reach their learning goals
  • Ensure compliance with national VET quality standards and BKI policies.

About you:

You are passionate about student success and have a talent for making literacy and numeracy engaging and accessible. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are committed to fostering a positive learning experience.

You will bring:

  • TAESS00009 Address Foundation Skills in Vocational Practice Skill Set (or equivalent) or TAE80113 Graduate Diploma of Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Practice (and its equivalent TAE70111); or Bachelor of Education, Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma of Education, or higher. This may include qualifications relating to TESOL, adult education or vocational education.
  • Completed Certificate IV in Training and Assessment OR currently working towards obtaining a TAE qualification
  • Experience in teaching literacy and numeracy, ideally in a vocational education setting
  • Ability to integrate digital learning tools into lesson delivery

Things we will require from you:

  • Relevant compliance documents including Working with Children Clearance (WWCC), current police check, certified right to work documentation
  • Certified vocational qualifications and certified transcripts (as listed in resume and relevant to the position)
