About the business and the role
Norstar Steel Recyclers is a well established, privately owned, market leading Victorian business that revolves around the recycling of scrap ferrous & non-ferrous metals, sourced from industrial, commercial and domestic customers, supplying to international and domestic markets.
Laverton is one of our five sites. This role is required to increase staffing capacity due to production demands. It is a fast paced environment with the graders & production team working together to meet work flow requirements. An initial casual rate is being offered, plus superannuation, with permanent placement potentially on offer after a successful probationary period.
Job tasks and responsibilities
- Assessment of metal product being received on site prior to unloading.
- Directing customer & company drivers to appropriate tipping / receival areas
- Direct safe & appropriate tipping / unloading of recyclable metal product.
- Review product received & assess waste components within loads.
- Review product received to identify and isolate, any prohibited materials received.
- Note product received & any deductions on grading dockets for administration.
- Forklift operation for product unloading & movements.
- Ensure safe working procedures & efficient use of machinery at all times.
Skills and experience
- The ability to follow instruction & work unsupervised at times
- The ability to perform safe work practices at all times
- The ability to work in a team environment
- The ability to converse with customers & transport drivers in a professional manner.
- Current forklift licence
- Excavator experience preferred, but will train if required
- A strong work ethic and the ability to meet deadlines and objectives.
- Current drivers license.
Ongoing training and support will be provided until fully competent.
