About the Division
The Business Partnering (VPS) branch is responsible for providing strategic HR and workplace relations advice and support to the to the department's 4,000+ Victorian Public Service (VPS) employees. The branch works closely with the Organisational Development team to develops human resource programs, strategies to assist leaders to manage the workplace in line with best practice leadership principles including compliance with relevant legislation. In addition, the team provides strategic advice and recommendations on workforce issues relevant to the department and the Victorian Public Sector more broadly, including the preparation of detailed reports and briefings, managing stakeholders and leading projects relating to complex HR / IR matters.
About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Senior HR Business Partner to Business Partnering (VPS) team. Working within the HR business partnership model, the position manages a portfolio of clients, working closely with key stakeholders and senior leaders to provide specialist people and culture advice and support on cultural initiatives and support to manage employees. The Senior HR Business Partner is a key partner in understanding and identifying business needs and issues and providing solutions, strategic advice and building leadership capability.
The role supports managers and senior leaders on complex HR/IR issues and case management and facilitates issue resolution and referral into specialist functions within the People Strategy and Operations (VPS) division. The Senior HR Business Partner will take a strategic approach to addressing challenges, can build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and excels in supporting a corporate Human Resources function for a complex organisation.

* Superior communications skills including the capacity to actively listen and communicate including the ability to translate complex material into meaningful information for end users.
* Proven experience fostering collaborative working relationships with stakeholders and working across the business as a HR expert.
* Proven ability to think strategically and problem-solve complex issues.
* Advisory experience with ability to interpret and provide advice on organisational policy and legislation.
* Tertiary qualifications in HR or a relevant field is desirable.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
At least 5 years' experience as a senior people and culture practitioner providing strategic advisory services to senior leadership. A Bachelor's qualification ideally in business or HR is desirable.
