Position Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Review and interpret sketches and technical drawings to identify material, tools and methods that will meet the approved specifications and quality standards.
- Recommend or select suitable metal materials or properties to ensure appearance, gauge, thickness, size, shape and strength to meet the required specifications.
- Solder pieces together according to specifications, blueprints or directions.
- Measure, lay out and mark sheet metal according to template and specifications. ● Create products from merged, moulded and shaped metals.
- Assemble sheet metal parts to form products using joining techniques such as welding, bolting and riveting.
- Fabricate assemblies and install HVAC duct systems or large sheet metal products.
- Perform regular maintenance of sheet metal components in the final products.
- Join, fasten and fit sheet metal parts during manufacturing using TAG and MIG welding.
- Use a variety of appropriate tools and machineries such as brake presses, shears and bending machines to shape, trim or bend metal parts along a predetermined line.
- Degrease, descale and smooth rough and uneven edges of assembled metal products to improve appearance and quality of finished products.
- Repair dented or defective metal sheet products or replace with a new piece of metal sheet or component if necessary
- Certificate III in Fabrication Trade or a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience
- Proficient in designing and manufacturing sheet metal products, including ducts, tubes, and hoses
- Strong ability to interpret blueprints and a solid understanding of sheet metal assembly technologies
- Skilled in the use of machine tools and workbench tools
- Excellent physical strength and endurance for demanding tasks
- At least 1 year of proven work experience within the ductwork industry
