The Opportunity
The Y Northern Territory is looking for a professional and friendly Hostel Receptionist to join our team based in the Darwin CBD. The Hostel primarily accommodates long term residents, over the age of 18, and caters for a wide range of demographics within its guests.

The role of the Receptionist is the face of the Hostel and the first point of connection with guests and the community. The role is a combination of engagement with Hostel guests and administrative tasks. Excellent people skills are essential along with time management.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide a high level of friendly, polite and helpful customer service to all guests and visitors from check in/out process to responding to guest enquiries, special requests and providing information about the hostel and local area.
- Provide a high standard of service for all reservation management, answering all incoming calls, email and online platform enquiries in a professional, accurate and efficient manner.
- Address and resolve guest complaints and issues in a professional, prompt and respectful manner, ensuring guest satisfaction
- Process payments in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring transactions are handled with integrity
- Process bookings, follow up of outstanding guest payments and manage guest information in the RMS Booking System in an accurate and timely manner
- Kiosk stock management, including processing sales and ordering supplies
- Liaising with other departments, i.e. maintenance, accounts, housekeeping, to ensure guest needs are met in a prompt manner
- Reporting and managing non-compliance with Hostel regulations and Conditions of Stay
- Adhering to all health and safety requirements and ensuring the health and safety of all guests in accordance with policy, procedure and legislation
Qualifications and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent; a certificate in hospitality management or business administration is advantageous
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proficiency in using hotel management software (RMS 9+) and Microsoft Office Suite highly regarded.
- Proficiency in English is required
- Previous experience in a guest service, human services, reception or front desk role, preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting highly regarded
- Working with and understanding indigenous people and their culture (desirable)
Mandatory Requirements

- A national criminal history check;
- An international criminal history check where applicants have worked overseas;
- Holding or obtaining a Working with Children Clearance/ equivalent in accordance with Territory laws;
- Two reference checks.
