Melbourne United are seeking a dynamic Emerging Platforms Content Coordinator to drive our presence on TikTok and other emerging digital platforms. This role is ideal for a creative and trend-savvy individual passionate about social media, short-form content, and audience engagement. You will play a key role in enhancing brand visibility, fostering community interaction, and expanding our reach to younger audiences.About the role Hands on experience within the world of sports Join a highly collaborative and easy-going team Work for an NBL club entering its most exciting phase of growth. This entry level 12-month contract is part time and has been offered through the Bachar Houli Foundation Employment Program to support young aspiring adults of Islamic background to gain employment across the sporting industry.
Key Responsibilities Stay updated on the latest trends, challenges, and features across TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and other emerging platforms. Proactively integrate platform innovations into content strategies to maximise engagement and brand impact. Analyse competitor activity and industry best practices to refine content approaches. Develop and produce high-quality, engaging short-form video content tailored for TikTok and other similar platforms. Ideate, script, film, and edit content that aligns with the brand’s voice and resonates with target audiences. Experiment with various content formats, including viral trends, behind-the-scenes footage, player takeovers, and community challenges. Work closely with the marketing team to ensure social content aligns with broader campaign objectives. Maintain brand consistency while leveraging platform-specific trends and content styles. Assist in the development of cross-platform content strategies, ensuring seamless integration with Instagram, YouTube Shorts, and other relevant channels. Develop strategies to attract and engage younger audiences through culturally relevant, interactive content. Monitor and respond to audience interactions, fostering a strong sense of community. Track and analyse content performance, identifying key insights and areas for improvement. Adjust content strategy based on data-driven learnings to optimise engagement and growth. Provide regular reports on key metrics, audience trends, and platform developments.
Key Skills & Experience Proven experience creating short-form video content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, or similar platforms. Strong understanding of social media trends, platform algorithms, and audience behaviours. Video production skills, including filming, editing, and adding effects/text using platform-native tools. Creative mindset with the ability to generate innovative content ideas that drive engagement. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams. A passion for sports (particularly basketball), entertainment, or youth culture is highly desirable.
