Description

The role of a Project Engineer at GPA Engineering is to manage a portfolio of projects, predominantly in the Oil and Gas, Hydrogen and mining & minerals industries, and represents an important position in the company’s ongoing growth in SA.

GPA delivers engineering solutions across a range of industries and disciplines, and you will be working in a collaborative and supportive project delivery team environment. This role will work with our project team members to ensure we meet our clients’ expectations.

This role would suit a self-driven project engineer with Oil & Gas, Hydrogen and/or Mining & Minerals experience who prefers a stable Monday to Friday role with work/life balance. Your extensive technical and project engineering capabilities will complement the Project Delivery team.

This vacancy is a permanent full-time or part-time role based in our Adelaide Office, located in the Unley. Renowned for delivering quality engineering work for its clients across Australia, you will be part of a privately-owned company that takes prides in its family culture and long-term retention rates.

You will also have the opportunity to work alongside other project managers, project controllers, engineers, designers and technicians who are passionate about providing quality customer service and support to our internal and external clients. In addition, you will be encouraged to take part in further training as part of your development plan as you continue your employment journey with us. It is expected that this role may expand to include work from a range of industries, such as renewables and future fuels.

Key Duties

Working as part of the Project Delivery team some of your key tasks include:

  • Successfully deliver on small to large, complex, multidisciplinary, high-risk projects.
  • Collaboratively resolve anomalies, design issues, technical challenges.
  • Chair regular client meetings and track project actions, issues and risks.
  • Monitor project progress and prepare formal progress reports for the client.
  • Provide input to project tenders.
  • Contracts administration for larger projects.
  • Visit clients/sites as required.
  • Contribute to the technical success of project outcomes within your engineering discipline(s).

Skills And Experiences

Desired Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, we are seeking for candidates with passion for quality engineering and client outcomes, great attention to details, and with the following relevant experience:

  • Satisfactorily completed a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical, Metallurgical, Chemical, Electrical or similar discipline.
  • Desirably completed a Diploma in Project Management.
  • Eligible to register as a Professional Engineer in Australia.
  • Solid design and/or operational and/or technical oil & gas or similar complex industrial experience.
  • Familiarity with complex schedules, time constraints, resource allocations, risk and opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability as a logical thinker and pragmatic decision maker.
  • Skilled in building relationships with internal staff and external clients.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Proven ability to negotiate and influence.
  • High attention to detail, planner and well-organised.
  • A positive mindset focused on solutions and customer service.

A requirement for this role is to complete a satisfactory pre-employment medical and Australian police clearance.
