Pimlico State High School are accepting applications for a self-motived and enthusiastic Teacher Aide to join the team on a temporary, part-time basis at 48 hours and 0.63 FTE until 24 July 2025, unless otherwise determined.

The successful candidate will work within the school community to provide essential support to students and staff in the LIBRARY to deliver high-quality instruction and ensuring a positive learning environment for students.

About Pimlico State High School

Pimlico State High School is a large, co-educational independent public school located in the eastern suburbs of Townsville, North Queensland. About the Role

Knowledge of the following would be highly desirable:

  • the library management system - Concord Infiniti.
  • the QLearn Library site.
  • BookIt for managing bookings for library spaces.
  • OneSchool (eg for logging behaviour incidents; locating student information).

Key Duties of the role are:

  • Set up the library ready for opening.
  • Manage circulation of library resources, including reservations.
  • Manage BYOD daily loan laptops and text hire resources.
  • Assist students to change their passwords, to print and to access other online resources such as ClickView and research databases.
  • Shelve books and tidy shelves to maintain correct book organisation, cleanliness and presentation of books to attract readers.
  • Book covering and repairs.
  • General tidying of the library and its furniture throughout each day.
  • Active supervision of students using the library before/after school and during break times.
  • Support the school's behaviour expectations based on the CARE philosophy by ensuring consistency of behaviour appropriate to the library environment.
  • Respond to staff and student enquiries.
  • Support library users to use the catalogue and locate resources.
  • Monitor bookings for library spaces and equipment.
  • Monitor the maintenance and working order of library equipment and facilities.
  • Support library activities such as Book Week.
  • At times, assist the Teacher-Librarian with library lessons (eg research skills; reading; Year 7 Library Inductions.
  • Stocktaking
  • Organise formal uniforms for students as required.
  • Respond to requests for archived artefacts.
  • Other tasks as directed by the Teacher-Librarian.
