Position Information

Punchbowl Public School is a diverse and inclusive K-6 school with approximately 502 students, 92% from non-English speaking backgrounds, and over 30 language groups, including 34 students from refugee backgrounds and 9 students who are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. The school also supports 14 students in Autism Support classes and 108 Preschool students, with 28 in Early Intervention.

The school fosters high expectations for student learning through a strong Instructional Leadership model, supported by specialist staff and a dedicated team of teachers at various career stages. It is a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) and PAX school, promoting student wellbeing through evidence-based practices.

Punchbowl PS values community partnerships, with an active P&C and a School as Community Centre (SaCC) initiative offering playgroups, transition programs, parenting support, and adult learning. The school is committed to student success, wellbeing, and family engagement, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment.


Selection Criteria In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary.

1. Demonstrated capacity to balance exemplary classroom teaching practices in literacy and numeracy, with the complex leadership and management role of an Assistant Principal.

2. A visible leader with outstanding interpersonal skills who engages in genuine collaboration to build authentic partnerships with students, staff, families and the wider community.

3. Evidence of ability to collaboratively lead, model and implement evidence based and data driven practices that embed a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement.


General Selection Criteria 1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents 5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning 6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
