About the role
This is an outstanding opportunity for a new or recent social work, human services, or behavioural sciences graduate. This is a 14-week hands on opportunity providing a highly supportive and educational experience, to build and strengthen your capacity for a rewarding career in the domestic and family violence sector.
In this role you will:
- Attend Brisbane Magistrates Court and the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia to provide first contact and court assistance to people affected by domestic and family violence.
- Under supervision, provide intervention services, including interviewing clients and providing trauma-informed crisis counselling, risk assessment, safety planning, information advocacy and referrals to external support services for persons who experience and use domestic and family violence.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external domestic and family violence workers, mental health support workers, lawyers and litigation support officers to best support clients presenting with complex and intersecting needs and vulnerabilities and enhance their safety and access to justice in domestic and family violence matters.
