About the role

Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) is looking for a dedicated and supportive General Medicine Hospital Medical Officer (HMO) to join our team on a fixed term, full time, basis until the beginning of February 2026.

The General HMO year provides experience in multiple areas such as the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Emergency Department (ED), Rehabilitation, General Medicine, Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, General Practice and acute Mental Health, across Latrobe Regional Health and Leongatha Healthcare.

About you

Ideal candidates for this role will have:

  • Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent.
  • General registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Experience working as an Intern in the Australian Healthcare system.
  • Clinical competence at a level commensurate with the number of years since graduation of medicine.
  • Demonstrated ability to pursue both formal and self-directed learning in clinical practice, and some evidence of developing ability to teach more junior doctors and medical students.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • High level of communication skills, including both written and verbal communication.
  • Self-directed and enthusiastic and sets high standards of performance for self and others.
  • Adaptable and receptive to new ideas, and responds and adjusts easily to changing work demands and circumstances.
