Role Overview
As the Safety Manager, you’ll oversee safety across a critical, high-volume distribution centre in Western Sydney with over 300+ staff, supported by a handful of smaller sites in NSW and NZ. Reporting to senior leadership in Safety & Operations, you'll ensure safety evolves from being a set of policies to a deeply embedded core value across the organization. Combining strategic oversight with hands-on engagement, you’ll guide teams to achieve safety excellence. Significant progress has already been made, with robust safety frameworks, SMS, policies, and processes in place. Now, we’re looking for an experienced leader to embed these practices further, coaching and guiding teams through the next phase of their safety journey.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of safety initiatives at the Eastern Creek site.
- Oversee safety compliance and initiatives across a handful of additional sites (minimal travel required).
- Deliver training and coaching to build safety capability at all levels.
- Drive injury prevention strategies and oversee workers' compensation processes. (There is an RTW/Injury Management team that handles BAU)
- Conduct audits, manage safety reporting, and identify areas for continuous improvement.
- Foster a culture of accountability, hazard awareness, and proactive safety practices.
Candidate Profile
You’re a hands-on safety leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys working directly with teams to make a real impact. With your strong communication skills and practical approach, you’ll inspire others to prioritise safety and integrate it seamlessly into daily operations.
What we’re looking for:
- Tertiary qualifcations in Safety/WHS or a related field (Bonus points for ICAM / Lead Auditor / RTW)
- Experience in a leadership role, resilient, with the ability to support, engage and drive change
- Experience leading safety in warehousing, logistics, or manufacturing industries. FMCG experience highly desired
- Expertise in WHS legislation, risk management, and safety systems.
- Proven ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- A hands-on, practical approach to embedding safety culture.
- Strong experience with incident investigations, audits, and compliance.
