OPPORTUNITY
We're specifically looking for someone to manage the Garage Door manufacturing operations, based full-time in Brisbane's Western suburbs. The manufacturing operations comprises of over 150 individuals, with 7 direct reports, operating across 2 shifts (morning & afternoon) with the occasional requirement to extend into 24hr operations. To be successful in this role, you would need to commence work everyday around 6:00am however this would enable you to finish up earlier on most days, provided things are going smoothly.
This role is crucial in enhancing operational efficiency, driving a strong safety culture, and optimising production processes. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Lean, Six Sigma, and 5S manufacturing methodologies, ideally within the steel or sheet metal industry. Experience in roll forming, pressing, punching, and joining would be highly advantageous. Key duties include:
- Oversee daily manufacturing operations to ensure production targets are met.
- Implement and manage Lean, Six Sigma, and 5S initiatives to streamline processes and reduce waste.
- Lead, coach, and mentor a production team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and skill development.
- Develop and maintain production schedules, ensuring efficient workflow and timely product delivery.
- Monitor and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify and implement process improvements.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and enhance manufacturing capabilities.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, promoting a strong safety culture.
- Utilise expertise in roll forming, pressing, punching, and forming to optimise manufacturing processes.
- Manage manufacturing budgets, ensuring operational efficiency and cost control.
- Maintain high-quality standards, ensuring all products meet or exceed specifications.
- $140,000 to $150,000 base salary plus superannuation (neg)

To be considered for this role it's essential you have at least 10+ years experience in Manufacturing Management, preferably in the steel or sheet metal industries. That means, you would need to bring with you Leadership experience in the manufacturing environment, as well as knowledge of steel roll forming, presses, punching and forming equipment.
In addition to that we'll also be looking for the following skills:
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and machine control systems is beneficial.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with a focus on mentoring and skill development.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication abilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage competing priorities.
- Proficient in computer-based manufacturing and reporting systems.
