Description:
Who is Bare?
Bare is a venture-backed, direct-to-consumer startup disrupting one of Australia's longest-standing institutions - the funeral industry.
We are dedicated to providing accessible, affordable end-of-life care to change the way Australians deal with death. Our aim is to transform the funeral industry, which has long provided expensive, traditional, cookie-cutter services that don’t always meet the needs of modern Australians.
By combining empathy with technology, we’re creating end-of-life experiences that are simple, personalized, and affordable. In only four years, we’ve served more than 30,000 families, become Australia’s most awarded end-of-life provider (with awards in customer service, innovation, and digital disruption), and built a team of more than 100 people committed to changing the way Australians deal with end-of-life. And we’re just getting started.
As part of this mission, we’re growing our operations team - and we’d love you to consider joining the mission. The role is full-time and primarily based in our regional hub on the Sunshine Coast.
So what is the role, exactly?
We're looking for an outstanding Logistics and Operations Manager to run our regional hub with military precision. You will oversee the entire process of transferring the deceased into our care, preparing them for cremation and return of ashes. This is one of the most critical roles in our company, ensuring that every transfer is handled with the utmost respect and efficiency.
What would my day-to-day look like?
In this role, you’ll manage the logistics of transferring the deceased into our care, preparing them for cremation, and ensuring every step is completed seamlessly and with exceptional empathy for the families we serve. Each day would involve:
- Proving leadership and guidance to our incredible team, fostering a supportive and collaborative work environment
- Conducting regular team meetings and individual performance reviews, including providing feedback to growth and development for each team member
- Managing and coordinating the daily tasks within the hub, including the compassionate, and respectful transfer of a person into our care.
- Overseeing the preparation of the deceased for cremation, adhering to all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Developing and implementing standard operating procedures to streamline operations and maintain high-quality service.
- Supervising and training the team, ensuring they perform their duties with precision and care.
- Monitoring and maintaining inventory of necessary supplies and equipment, ensuring all resources are available and in good condition.
- Collaborating with other departments to ensure seamless communication and coordination throughout the transfer and preparation process.
- Handling sensitive situations with compassion and professionalism, providing support to families and ensuring an outstanding customer experience at every moment
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation, ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory standards.
- Continuously evaluating and improving processes to enhance efficiency and service quality.
Who are we looking for?
This is a challenging but highly impactful role. You will take pride in leading a committed, hardworking team that needs to be responsive 24/7. You’ll have:
- 3+ years management experience in logistics, operations management, or a related field, preferably in the funeral or healthcare industry.
- Ideally background in an organisation requiring strong logistical leadership
- A drive to make the hardest time in people's lives as easy as possible
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain high standards of care and professionalism.
- Ability to work with empathy and sensitivity, respecting the needs and wishes of families during difficult times.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, particularly in leading teams
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity.
- Highly proficient in software
- Physically fit to be able to perform the tasks that you require from the team you're leading
What’s in it for me?
Someone in the the Bare team recently described the team as, “this is the most impactful work I've ever done. I feel lucky to be able to help people that truly need support." So, there’s that. In addition, we offer:
- Great opportunities for personal growth, promotion, and career development.
- The ability to work with lots of autonomy and flexibility.
- A friendly, fun, and supportive environment - people love what they do at Bare.
- Competitive remuneration package.
