The Financial and Procurement Services Directorate sits within the People and Corporate Services Division and provides systems for managing our people, our finances, and our core business processes, ensuring we can work safely, compliantly, efficiently, and productively.

The Opportunity
We are seeking to recruit two individuals to join our Financial and Asset Accounting Team.

The Senior Financial Accounting Officer (ASO6) is accountable to the Team Leader Financial and Asset Accounting to provide the following key outcomes:

  • Provide expert financial reporting and accounting services (inclusive of asset and lease accounting).
  • Support the preparation and audit of financial statements.
  • Coordinate external and internal reporting requirements.

Additionally, the Senior Financial Accounting Officer will also engage with senior staff to determine priorities and contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of innovative solutions and strategies for continuous improvement.

The Senior Finance Officer (ASO5) is accountable to the Team Leader, Financial and Asset Accounting. The role provides the following responsibilities:

  • A financial reporting service.
  • Contributes to the development of new approaches to corporate reporting.
  • Assists in broader continuous improvement initiatives which contributes to the compliance of the finance function within Accounting Standards and Treasury Guidelines.

Additionally, this role is responsible for undertaking asset accounting (inclusive of lease accounting), assisting in the preparation of departmental financial statements and specific financial reports subject to audit and where required undertake financial statement account level related reconciliations.

Qualifications/Experience
Qualifications in Accounting, Economics, Commerce or equivalent is desirable.

Previous experience in asset accounting and financial reporting is desirable.

The successful candidates will be appointed at the classification level commensurate with their qualifications(s), skills and experience.

Special Conditions
The successful candidates will be required to provide a National Police Check (NPC) prior to employment with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.

Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.

Tenure of Vacancy
Temporary appointments up to 12 months.

Remuneration
ASO5 - $85,790 to $95,413 pa + superannuation.
ASO6 - $98,478 to $104,165 pa + superannuation.
