The key duties of the position include
The Role
EWIS-L SPO is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Technician - Electronics-Electrical. The Technician will apply technical knowledge, provide advice and engage with customers and stakeholders to achieve set tasks.
Operating under direct supervision of a senior technician, the Technician will be assigned a range of tasks in support of complex electronics and communications equipment used by the Australian Defence Force.
Tasks may include:
  • Corrective and preventative maintenance of equipment.
  • Technical investigations and problem solving.
  • Authoring of technical documentation such as operator instructions and maintenance procedures.
  • Upkeep of maintenance records and technical data.

Successful candidates will possess excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively within a team. The ability to work autonomously with limited direction is highly regarded.
We are seeking candidates with a diverse range of backgrounds that can translate their skills to equipment and systems designed for and operating within a military environment.

Electromagnetic Warfare and Intelligence Systems Branch in Joint Systems Division is an exciting and complex environment, offering a rewarding career in one of the most dynamic organisations within CASG.
We deliver, integrate and sustain intelligence and electromagnetic warfare capabilities into a wide range of air, land and maritime platforms and systems. We have a high performing culture and are faced with complex challenges in our role to defend Australia and its interests.
EWIS-L SPO spans various geographic locations and disciplinary backgrounds with diverse skills working together to support the ADF. This position directly supports deployable Electronic Warfare and optical surveillance systems.
The broader organisation also supports protective Electronic Counter Measures, Materiel Exploitation and explosive ordnance detection and disposal systems.
Our Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have:
  • Skills, experience and knowledge that can be applied to Electronic Warfare, military communications and optical surveillance systems.
  • Skills and experience working within a Regulatory Framework and the practical management of addressing risk within technical and maintenance activities.
  • Understanding of safety management practices within the workplace and its application to military equipment.
  • A strong background in technical maintenance and support.
  • Effective analysis and problem solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively engage with customers.
  • High-level organisational skills, self-drive and initiative with the ability to work within a small team environment.
  • The ability to contribute to effective governance, risk management and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Personal drive, integrity and accountability with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Strong personal organisation and time management skills with an eye for detail and accuracy.
  • A working knowledge of MS Office software applications.
