Transform Patient Care: GEM@Home Advanced Nurse Unit Manager

As the GEM@Home Advanced Nurse Unit Manager, you will provide visionary leadership and operational management for the multidisciplinary team, ensuring safe, efficient, and effective delivery of hospital-level care to both inpatients and community consumers in their homes. Accountable to the Nursing Director, you will drive best practices across staffing, recruitment, resource management, accreditation, and risk management processes while fostering a positive work culture focused on exceptional consumer outcomes. In this dynamic role, you will drive innovation and digital strategies, integrating telehealth and home monitoring to optimize quality of life through targeted, evidence-based interventions and sustainable care planning.

About the role:

Reporting to the Nursing Director, Rehabilitation, Aged and Palliative Care, some of your duties as the Advanced Nurse Unit Manager will involve:

  • Ensuring that service provision and the activities of the GEM at Home team are person and family centred, contributing to the development of an integrated team approach and positive work culture which is highly responsive to the needs of our patients.
  • Changing local processes and practices in accordance with emerging service needs, care evaluation results, identified imminent systems problems, and coordination of local activities with corporate systems.
  • Lead the development, implementation and monitoring of quality improvement activities within GEM at Home that will support practice improvement and service efficiencies across community, ambulatory and interfacing teams.

About you:

  • Registered as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) and holds a current practicing certificate.
  • Registered Nurse with at least 3 years, post registration experience.
  • Experience as a leader or manager in the healthcare industry.
  • Experience in leading services or organisations through times of extensive change.
  • Experience in liaison with large numbers of staff from various multidisciplinary backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation working with others to influence and earn the trust and respect of relevant parties gaining cooperation and support.
