Primary objective
Under the direction of the leadership team, be responsible for the coordination and delivery of case management services to eligible
young people. Provide professional, effective, legislatively compliant and culturally appropriate support and supervision to young
people in the care of the CEO and work towards reducing their involvement with the Youth Justice System.
Context statement
The Crossover team was established to work with a small but significantly vulnerable cohort of young people who are placed in an Intensive
Therapeutic Residential Care (ITRC) Placement and who also present with a high level of complexity. The Crossover team are authorised
officers under the Care and Protection of Children Act 2007.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Work collaboratively within a team environment to deliver evidence-based and culturally appropriate, statutory case management
services to vulnerable children in the care of the CEO, in accordance with the Care and Protection of Children Act, 2007.
2. Develop, maintain and influence collaborative working relationships with relevant government agencies, non-government entities,
private sector providers and other work units within the Department of Children and Families to provide targeted support to young
people who fall within the Crossover cohort.
3. Undertake comprehensive needs assessments to identify case plan objectives and strategies to address safety concerns and
criminogenic needs for the Crossover cohort.
4. Prepare relevant documentation such as case reports, court reports and affidavits.
5. Gather and input client information into agency case management systems, ensuring data is timely and accurate to enable informed
decision-making and on-going assessments and reviews.
6. Contribute to the professional development and learning needs of less experienced colleagues, including mentoring of peers and
training of work experience students.
7. Participate in the Department’s After-Hours Service and assist in delivering the Department’s statutory welfare group responses in
accordance with the Emergency Management Act.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. A degree of an Australian Tertiary Institution which gives eligibility for membership of the Australian Community Workers Association,
the Australian Association of Social Workers, or the Australian Psychological Society, or equivalent, or Diploma of Child, Youth and
Family Intervention and Vocational Graduate Certificate in Community Services Practice (Statutory Child Protection).
2. Significant demonstrated knowledge of human services concepts that underpin contemporary practice, including the principles and
functions of supervision in statutory and non-statutory child protection and Out of Home Care case management.
3. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence decision-making, negotiate solutions to
complex issues and provide appropriate, meaningful and accurate information for a wide variety of audiences.
4. The ability to quickly acquire and apply an understanding of NT Government priorities and Departmental strategies, relevant legislation
and policies that guide the delivery of child protection and Out of Home Care services.
5. Knowledge of quality standards and the principles of continual improvement in the context of providing services in the human services
sector.
6. Current NT Drivers Licence and Working with Children Clearance.
Desirable
1. At least three (3) years working in the human services sector conducting strength- based assessments, developing and delivering
effective interventions and applying best practice principles, with at least twelve (12) months working with vulnerable children.
2. Understanding of mentoring and coaching principles and concepts to ably support the development of others.

The recommended applicant will be required to hold a current Working with Children Clearance notice and undergo a criminal history
check (a criminal history will not exclude an applicant from this position unless it is a relevant criminal history). This position requires the
