Role Details
The Department for Child Protection is seeking a Senior Disability Consultant to join the Disability and Development unit.
The role is responsible for:
• Providing advice and support to DCP staff in the identification of children and young people with disability and developmental delay and connecting with the National Disability Insurance Agency to support disability needs.
• Establishing a knowledge base regarding National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) systems and maintaining a comprehensive understanding of the NDIS and DCP provider market.
• Contributing to policy, service development and evaluation to support service delivery and best practice in multidisciplinary therapeutic services within DCP.
• Providing professional support and mentoring to DCP staff and clinical supervision to students.
About You
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate a clinical understanding of the development and therapy needs of children and youth with disability.
To be successful you will be experienced in planning and implementing individualised interventions aimed at meeting the complex needs of clients.
You will be able to draw on your knowledge to advise and develop other staff and students in disability therapeutic theory and practice.

Special Conditions
Essential: A degree level qualification in Social Work which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers; or Appropriate degree qualification in Community Services, Social Sciences, Human Services, Health or related field.
