About the Opportunity

The HSW Advisor contributes to the development, implementation, coordination, and review of the broader HSW Management System in consultation with the Manager HSW, executive leaders, branch leaders, consultative forums and the HSW team. The HSW Advisor ensures effective business partnerships through strong stakeholder engagement, coaching and developing while responding to operational needs and promoting a culture where people feel safe and supported.

Reporting to the Manager, Health Safety and Wellbeing, the Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Advisor is responsible for the provision of HSW advice and support to organisation Leaders and employees to build their knowledge, skills and capability in OHS matters to add value to the organisation while achieving HSW objectives and targets.

About You

The ideal candidate comes with solid professional knowledge in health, safety, and wellbeing and the ability to provide technical OHS advice to a range of stakeholders. You are comfortable with working with a range of stakeholders and to interpret and apply policies and processes relevant to your work.

In addition, you will have:

  • Qualifications in a relevant discipline e.g. Occupational Health and Safety (or enrolled in a current course of study)
  • Experience working in an HSW role with a solid track record of developing and delivering HSW initiatives to a broad range of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience in adapting and conveying complex HSW information to a wide range of stakeholders, including delivering reports and presentations, and responding to queries on the topic.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate (oral and written) using language in a manner that is clear, fluent and succinct and present information to develop the users understanding of the topic.
  • Experience preparing high quality reports, memos and briefs by gathering and interpreting complex data utilising relevant software in professional practice, including Microsoft Office suite, safety systems or other related systems.
  • A track record of managing successful collaborations and stakeholder relationships, including upskilling stakeholders in best practices and requirements.
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment (desirable).
  • Auditor qualifications (desirable).
  • ICAM Investigation qualification or similar qualification (desirable).

  1. Tell us about a time you collaborated with stakeholders to develop and implement a Safety initiative. How did you build engagement, manage challenges while ensuring compliance with OHS Legislation?
  2. Describe how you have utilised your risk management experience using your safety skills (i.e. auditing, risk assessments, incident/hazard management/investigation) to provide solutions to identified or emerging workplace risks?
  3. Describe your experience in managing day-to-day safety software systems (e.g. DoneSafe) including running reports, analysing data and generating charts using dashboard systems (e.g. PowerBi). How did you present the information (e.g. presentations, reports etc.) considering different audiences (e.g. Board, Executive, Teams)?
  4. Describe your experience in developing or contributing to the development and implementation of a Health and Safety Management Framework and associated procedures, systems and processes?
