About the Role
The Commis Chef’s purpose is to help and support the Chefs and Brigade Tournant to drive operational performance of Arts Centre Melbourne’s kitchen.
You must have knowledge of principal cooking and production from basic salads to sauces and soups, as well as knowledge in food presentations and making of a la carte or function food.
Casual position. Band 1.2.16 $ 27.61 per hour plus 25% casual loading.
Your Skills and Experience
- Relevant tertiary/TAFE qualification and/or experience
- Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an enthusiastic approach to training and developing team members
- Have a deep passion for food preparation and presentation

The Kitchen Brigade is responsible for the food delivery within Arts Centre Melbourne which contributes as a major driver of revenue.
The kitchen delivers a culinary experience on a multi-platform stage, catering for the culinary novice, the theatre-going crowds, world stage performers and a vast array of local and international dignitaries.
