Your role:
The Navy needs tradies to repair and maintain a wide range of military hardware on ships, submarines, helicopters and ashore.
Whether you already have a trade, you're an apprentice, or you have no experience at all, we're hiring. You’ll be paid to gain all the skills needed with extensive on-the-job trade training. You may also be able to utilise your existing qualifications and be eligible for recognition of prior learning.

- Chef (Surface and Submariner) :
Keep the Navy nourished and fit for duty as you cook, prepare and serve meals to fuel your team at sea, ashore and onboard submarines. - Electrical Fitter (Surface and Submariner) :
Take your trade to the next level, maintaining the engineering and mechanical systems onboard Navy vessels including submarines to ensure they remain fully operational and mission capable. - Electrician Nuclear Submariner:
Operate and maintain the electrical systems and equipment that power the Navy’s nuclear-powered submarines to the highest standards of safety and security. - Electronics Technician:
Maintain, operate, and repair complex communication, navigation, surveillance and weapon systems, ensuring our ships are always ready for action. - Electronics Technician Nuclear Submariner:
Operate and maintain the electronic systems that control the nuclear reactor on a Navy submarine to the highest safety and security standards. - Electronics Technician Submariner:
Maintain underwater sensors, communications equipment, navigation aids and weapons systems in this technical trade role. - Fabricator:
Keep Navy ships operational and mission-ready while working towards a nationally recognised qualification in a role delivering adventure, job satisfaction and career progression. - Fixed and Mobile Plant Mechanic (Surface and Submariner) :
Maintain and operate engineering and mechanical systems onboard ships/submarines and ashore. - Helicopter Airframe Technician:
Maintain, trouble-shoot and repair state-of-the-art helicopters or uncrewed aerial vehicles to ensure they operate safely and efficiently onboard ships and ashore. - Helicopter Avionics Technician:
Maintain state-of-the-art anti-submarine helicopters or unmanned aerial vehicles. Plus, trouble shoot weapons, communications and navigation systems in this exciting aviation role. - Mechanic Nuclear Submariner:
Operate and maintain the steam-powered propulsion plant on one of the Navy’s new nuclear-powered submarines to the highest safety and security standards. - Photographer - Imagery Specialist :
Live a story worth telling while capturing and promoting the amazing stories of your ADF teammates, using industry leading cameras and video equipment.

Salary:
Upon completion of your initial military and employment training, you’ll enjoy a salary package starting from $77,451 for surface fleet and $90,437 for submariners.

For these roles, you must be over 17 at time of enlistment, an Australian Citizen and have passed Year 10 with passes in English and Maths. Some positions may also require passes in Science.
