Why This Role Matters

his role oversees the SHG facility, managing maintenance requests, onboarding and rostering volunteers, and handling minor tenancy responsibilities. It operates within The Salvation Army’s Specialist Homelessness Services (SHS) at 35 Myers Street, Geelong, as part of the National Homelessness Stream. The position requires collaboration with specialist homelessness services, government agencies, health providers, and allied services. Service delivery must align with national and state strategic plans and the National Homelessness Stream Model of Care.


About The Role
We are seeking a dedicated Samaritan House Coordinator for our Samaritan House program in a Full-time capacity. This position is based out of Geelong

Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Grade profile SCHADS Award level 5 .
Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily site operations, including donations, cleaning, and volunteer coordination.
  • Liaise with the board for maintenance needs and direct contractors on-site.
  • Maintain accurate property and tenancy records.
  • Manage tenancy processes, including inductions, inspections, and rent reviews.
  • Represent SHG at VCAT Tribunal.
  • Onboard and roster volunteers through SHG and TSAHB systems.
  • Complete TSAHB internal forms, case notes, and respond to telephone inquiries.
  • Submit required TSA SHS forms, case notes, and SAMIS data within 48 hours.
  • Manage telephone inquiries related to TSA Homelessness Barwon services.
  • Maintain archive filing and provide reports to the Team Leader or Manager as needed.
  • Attend team meetings and contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Support team-building activities.
  • Participate in risk prevention and workplace safety initiatives.
  • Comply with statutory requirements, TSA policies, and management directives.


About You:

  • Social Work qualification or other relevant social tertiary qualifications and/or substantial experience
  • Experience and resilience in working with complex clients presenting with challenging behaviours
  • Ability to encourage and cooperate with others to achieve common goals
  • Acknowledgement and responsiveness to diversity of experiences, perspectives, values and beliefs
  • A Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check
  • A current and valid Working with Children’s Check
  • A valid Victorian Driver's license.
