About the role
The CNC SANE is an advanced clinical practice registered nurse who provides clinical services within the Ipswich Hospital Emergency Department to patients who present following a sexual assault and or disclose experiencing a sexual assault and supports WMH staff in relation to management and care of patients following a sexual assault.
The CNC SANE Regional Coordinator will:
- have an expert level of professional clinical practice in sexual assault clinical management, care and provide sexual assault forensic examinations
- establish and maintain partnership between the WMH and Forensic Medicine Queensland (FMQ)
- be the Forensic Examiners Queensland (FEQ) Community of Practice (CoP) HHS representative
- support the credentialling of SANE's and Forensic Nurse Examiners (FNE)
- explore opportunities for clinician mentorship, supervision and local peer support
- represent and participate in Regional Forensic Coordinator (RFC) Network meetings
- collaborate with FMQ to access training to maintain a roster of forensic examiners
- participate in the development of local HHS sexual assault examination pathways, including coordination between facilities
- ensure pathways are developed to allow for Person of Interest forensic examinations to be conducted when requested by QPS
- ensure an active paediatric forensic sexual assault pathway is developed
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrates the ability to apply or acquire specialised knowledge of contemporary nursing practice, skills and theory in sexual assault management and care procedures.
- Demonstrates the ability to build and maintain strong relationships, open communication and a positive environment within and across the broad interprofessional team and key stakeholders (including if required – QPS).
- Demonstrates ability to use appropriate discretion in the dissemination of clinical information with regard to statutory and common law duties, confidentiality and privacy issues.
- Demonstrated ability to be an effective nursing health professional with capability for high level engagement across the spectrum of stakeholders including patients and families.
- Applies the principles of sound and ethical decision making in addressing practice issues, supporting others, and monitoring and evaluating system level evidence and capability, takes personal responsibility for decisions and the achievement of ideas to fruition despite expressed differences.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
