The opportunity

  • Ongoing, full-time position.
  • VPS 4 role: $95,102 - $107,905 per year plus super.
  • As part of the classification and placement unit, apply sound, specialist knowledge and expertise to ensure custodial placement decisions consider the individual risks and complex needs of young people
  • Conduct validated screenings and assessments that assist in the management and safety of young people whilst in custody and when being transitioned to the community
  • Build professional relationships with often complex young people, through ongoing contact and support to enhance continuity and consistency for the young person, using an evidence-based case management process
  • Provide authoritative support to coach and advise key workers so they can motivate and encourage young people towards achieving their case plan goals. Ensure effective two-way communication with key workers in relation to the young person's risks, needs, and process.

To be successful in this role you will have demonstrated experience in effectively applying theory, knowledge, and experience in undertaking specialised assessments and implementing, reviewing and monitoring case plans, strategies and programs.

Current full driver's license is required as travel to other offices within the department is required.

You will be required to obtain a Working with Children Check (WWCC) to be maintained by the employee for the period of employment.

About the Parkville Youth Justice Facility

Parkville is a 136-bed youth justice facility located in the inner northern Melbourne suburb of Parkville. The facility accommodates boys and young men and girls and young women aged 10-17 years on remand and when sentenced. Since January 2024, the facility also accommodates young people on the Dual Track system, aged 18 -21 years old.

Parkville is a safe and secure place where young people can work on getting their lives back on track, supported by evidence-based programs and services. We want young people to return home with the confidence that they can thrive in their own communities

About the Cherry Creek Youth Justice Facility

Cherry Creek is a 140 bed youth justice facility to the west of Werribee in the vicinity of Cherry Creek. The facility accommodates children and young people who are males between 15-18 years of age both sentenced and on remand.

Cherry Creek employs leading, fit for purpose design and construction; and the team will deliver best practice culture, processes and operations. This is how we will ensure Cherry Creek will enhance the outcomes we achieve for the young people in our care and the community.
