Employment Type: Term Time- Permanent
Salary Range: $51.11 to $54.88 gross per hour plus 12.75% Super

Newman Catholic College, co-located on James Cook University site, Smithfield, is Cairns Catholic Education’s newest college, joining a system of 29 other catholic schools and colleges. Opened in 2022, with approximately 140 Year 7 students and growing a year level each year until Year 12 is reached in 2027, its location on and interaction with the University presents endless opportunities to meet the diverse learning needs of our students. Newman Catholic College works collaboratively with James Cook University so that learning and teaching is enhanced at all year levels.
About the Role
The role of School Officer- Pathways is to support the school vision through leadership of the learning and teaching program. This involves ensuring curriculum is in line with national, state and local requirements; ensuring that appropriate pedagogies are developed and implemented at all levels; ensuring the quality of student learning and the effectiveness of teacher/trainer practice through appropriate supervision; utilising thorough analysis of current data to inform decisions; developing appropriate partnerships within and outside of the college; and prudently administering available resources.
The school officer pathways will work in collaboration with the Leader of Engagement and Deputy Principal to support students in exploring appropriate careers and pathways. The School Officer Pathways is to ensure currency in Career Development, Vocational Education, and post-school pathways.

Work Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications at Degree level and post-graduation qualifications in Career Counselling, Training and Assessment or a related study area and/or master’s in Vocational Education, Education or Further Education and Training.
- Registration and currency with CICA.
- Unless an exemption applies all staff are required to hold a current Queensland Working with Children Blue Card or be eligible to apply.
